My adventure with Avellana began in fall 2001. Mother of 2 children and wanting to stay home with them to see them growing, I have decided to have my own homebased business. How? By making teething necklaces. Already in 2003, I needed someone to help me and that’s when Louise decided to join me.
The Avellana hazel tree necklace : a natural product of higher quality
 Since the beginning, the hazel-tree wood used in the making of the Avellana necklaces comes from an Estrian wild forest. The hazel-tree grows there in a natural way in a ground rich with nutrient and thanks to the intelligent use of the ressources, we contribute to the maintenance of the local ecosystem.
It is vital for us that no chemical manure , weedkiller or other contaminant is used as it is often the case when wood comes from a plantation.
 The idea of using semi-precious stones came to us in a natural way. The natural stones are carefully selected for their complementary properties to those of the hazel-tree adding to the Avellana necklace an increasing power of relief.
Since the making of our first necklace in 2002, many things have changed. Avellana is now known as the most important manufacturer of genuine hazel tree necklaces combined with natural stones in Canada.
But even today, all our necklaces are made in accordance with the Amerindian traditions and in harmony with our Mother Earth.
Avellana diversifies its activities :
Spring 2004 : Avellana takes an unexpected road : the wraparound baby carriers. Being a mother for the third time, nursing and babywearing is one of the most important preoccupations for me. That’s why we decided to create a babywearing division and my mission is to go around Quebec to promote the benefits of nursing and babywearing while Louise takes charge of the hazel tree department.
2005 : Always looking to fulfille the needs of our customers, Avellana becomes exclusive distributor for Quebec territory of the Guatamalan handwoven wraparounds from EllaRoo , the Canadian wraparound CuddlyWraps from Peapod Creations and for the all new poncho Duo Câlins made in Quebec for the pregnant woman and for the mother using a wraparound baby carrier. Avellana also distribute a Body-Friendly pregnancy and nursing cushion and natural orthopedic pillows for children and for adult. All those products are filled with buckwheat hulls and made in Quebec by Naturest.
2006 :
January : Always looking for new products, Avellana has negociated with a French firm an exclusive distribution agreement to import in Canada a genuine amber teething necklace.
February : We are now the exclusive distributor of the Naturest products for the perinatalty market in Quebec.
Mach: Avellana is now a trademark.
